For visitors who want to take a self-guided stroll, call us at the office before arriving, and we’ll be happy to assist you. We look forward to providing you with a meaningful experience as you explore our serene grounds.

Volunteer Opportunities
Tree Planting: Join us in our mission to preserve the beautiful green space of our 37-acre site in the lower North Ward! In partnership with the New Jersey Tree Foundation, we are actively replacing and planting trees to maintain our arboretum atmosphere.
Grounds Clean-up: Despite our daily efforts to keep the grounds pristine, occasional help is needed. We invite you to participate in our planting days and community clean-ups, which are held three times a year.
Gravestone Cleaning: An experienced community volunteer visits the cemetery weekly to clean gravestones, and we welcome others to join him and learn the techniques.
Sip and Paint: Occasionally, a group of volunteers gathers to fulfill other projects, such as repainting the cemetery's cast-iron path signs. Please add your name to our volunteer list by calling the office, stopping by in person, or adding your name to our website contact form.

Special Events
Our first large scale event was a Halloween party. Volunteer actors told stories of people like: John Dryden founder of the Prudential Insurance Co; Mrs. Compton whose son went down with the Titanic; Gov. Marcus Ward, whose role as a "Soldiers Friend" during the Civil War was told and many more. These stories held hundreds of children enthralled as they waited for their candy. Parents in this congested neighborhood love it because they don't have to worry about busy street traffic, and their children learn about the history of the city they live in. This event is usually held when Halloween is on a Saturday or Sunday. Check our website for the next Halloween event.
